About the Quality of Life Foundation

The Quality of Life Foundation (formerly known as the Indiana Community Cancer Care Foundation) was established in 1994 by William M. Dugan, Jr., MD, and Sara Edgerton, MA, who recognized the need for research, education, and programmatic efforts geared toward improving the quality of life of those living with cancer and other chronic diseases.

The Quality of Life Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life of those living with chronic disease through research, education, and support. This foundation gives preference to projects related to cancer and populations in rural and under-served Indiana communities.

To achieve their mission the Quality of Life Foundation:

  • Provides funding, research, and support for quality improvement projects in rural and under-served hospitals and healthcare settings relative to the diagnosis and management of chronic disease.
  • Provides funding and support to create and maintain quality-of-life research infrastructures in rural and under-served hospitals and other healthcare settings.
  • Provides funding and support for educational and developmental programs for physicians and other healthcare professionals that focus on quality of life for patients with chronic disease.
  • Provides funding and support for educational materials and programs that raise awareness about quality of life issues for patients with chronic disease and their family members.

The Quality of Life Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity. Our research, programs, and education efforts are made possible by grants and the philanthropic support of our donors.
